Again?

Yeah, so they slept (basically) through the night again (though I should clarify that “through the night” only means that they woke at appropriate times for feedings and went right back to sleep, rather than fussing on and off, etc.). It’s becoming really clear that they (and we) sleep so much better all lumped together in the same bed. However, I do have to admit that I’m still working out the logistics of it, and that at times, I am worried about them, even though we keep the soft bedding away from them and the pillows out of their way, etc. (Bad mom admits it here, but) they have NEVER slept on their back. I put them down on their back, and check on them to find them on their side. I have never actually seen them roll, so I’m not sure how they do it (maybe they just get angry enough to spaz themselves into whatever the preferred position is…), but unless they are tightly swaddled and in a bouncy seat, OR they are in bed with us, they very rarely lay flat on their back. Not sure what to do about that.

Anyway, the co-sleeper thing arrived today. I’m not sure how it’s going to work with twins but we’re going to try it out and see. If it doesn’t work, we’ll just return it, I guess.

Ah. And now, it’s bath time/feed time/sleep time for the boys…

I’ll leave you with two pictures from our first shopping outing today:

Jack screams his fool head off…

while Henry sleeps.

Much better than pumpkin's first trip to wa.lly world… ;)She ~always~ slept better & more appropriately on her back in the bed. Even now she flips over to her belly almost every night in her room.

I'm late to the party (MIL in town) but yay for everything. It sounds like you are doing really well. For us the first 6 weeks were the toughest and then we found a system that works for us.You know of my ordeals with breastfeeding- a happy mom is a happy babe(s). My PPD lasted the entire time I pumped (5 months) so don't lose yourself in breastfeeding. We co-sleep. I never thought I would but yeah, it works for us and everyone gets a much better nights sleep. Alex transitioned to his crib relatively well (90% of the time) but Benjamin still gets up frequently to eat and for snuggles even now at 8 months old. At some point we know we'll have to unbreak him of this habit but we're not quite feeling like it's the right time yet.I once read that dad's of sons have a harder time adjusting to parenting. They expect them to be "men" the instant they are born and don't realize that fussing and crying and all that is a part of being a baby. He'll come around. They are lovely. And such awesome weights. You're doing great.

At least only one of them was screaming, right?Yay for a little more sleep for all of you. As for staying on their backs, as long as you put them there, you can't control if they don't stay there.I'm impressed that you already took them out shopping!

so glad you captured their first trip to target! 😛 so cute!

Ro always slept on his side. My mom told me my bro & sis (twins) always side-slept as well because they wanted to snuggle with each other. Makes sense since they'd been doing it for months. I wouldn't worry about it. Well, actually I would worry about it (and did) but my Ped assured me there is no evidence of a correlation between SIDS and side-sleeping.

  8. I am so glad that you guys are figuring out what works for you and you are all getting more sleep. I hope this is the start of a real trend and not a fluke and you are all enjoying more sleep now. 🙂
